La Liga Sock Sponsorship Deal - Atlético Debuts PES 2015 Sock Advertising

Has advertising in La Liga gone too far? Reigning La Liga champions Atlético Madrid and 12 other La Liga teams debuted a striking Pro Evolution Soccer 'Sockatyes' Sock Advertising in the last La Liga round. Sockatyes is an elastic strap worn around the leg.

The Chinese brand Sockatyes and LFP announced a sock sponsor deal including more than 20 clubs of the first and second divisions of Spanish club football (Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante). In total, the two-season La Liga Sockatyes Sock Sponsorship Deal involves 24 Liga BBVA and Liga Adelante clubs, and will run at least until 2015-16.

Although the La Liga Sock Advertising deal was already signed in October 2014, the video game Pro Evolution Soccer became the first company to have their logo on the socks of teams such as Atlético Madrid, Celta Vigo, Malaga, Rayo Vallecano and Villarreal. PES 2015 is a football simulation published by the Japanese brand Konami.

But does the elastic strap has any benefits for the players? Even though Sockatyes claims that Sockatyes helps to assist blood circulation in the leg and prevent injuries, it's quite obvious that it's just another way to increase sponsorship revenue. Therefore, the broadcast of La Liga focused on the socks of the players to showcase the PES 2015 Sock Advertising several times last weekend.

Teams such as FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Valencia are not part of the Sock Advertising deal.
