Update: New Balance to Announce New Liverpool Kit Deal?

Update: As somewhat expected, New Balance's big announcement wasn't really that big. In the end, it was about Reds coach Jürgen Klopp signing a sponsorship agreement with the brand. Some might argue that this increases the chances of the brand renewing with the club, but in reality we know as much as before about that.

New Balance just posted a short video teasing an joint announcement of the brand and Liverpool FC, its most important asset in the football world. The video will go live on New Balance Football's official Facebook page tomorrow at 1PM GMT. Here's what we think could happen.

Liverpool to Renew New Balance Kit Deal?

The most interesting option would be to announce that New Balance is renewing its kit deal with Liverpool beyond 2018. With just over one and a half years left on the current deal, it would be a good sign and a strong statement by New Balance to renew its long-term partnership with Liverpool FC, probably by far the most important contract it has in the football world.

Jürgen Klopp to Sign New Balance Sponsorship Deal?

Another possibility could be that the announcement is more closely related to Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp, who did after all appear in the teaser. NB could be following something Adidas has been doing for some years (see: José Mourinho, Pep Guardiola) in signing a coach to an official sponsorship deal.

Although it would probably be a bit of a letdown for fans who expect bigger news, we could well see this option happen in combination with another major announcement regarding the Liverpool jersey deal. After all, Jürgen Klopp is wearing New Balance sneakers at training and games already, while the brand does not sponsor a single player from the squad individually, meaning that none of them could appear in an official New Balance stream.

New Balance to Introduce Liverpool Kit Vote?

Something else that has been speculated about is the announcement of something like a kit vote. Considering production schedules, which mean that new jerseys get produced from around six months before their launch, now would be the last opportunity to introduce something along those lines for the 2017-18 season. This is only an outside possibility.

Something else

Lastly, there's a chance that none of the above will be subject of the announcement. Not rarely, brands entertain the hype machine to create buzz around something that would otherwise not get a fraction of the attention it ends up getting.

After going through some possible scenarios, we believe the first option to be the most likeliest one. Either way, we'll find out in less than 24 hours, so stay tuned.
