Now this is a turn of events no-one did expect. Having worn blacked-out Adidas boots for the better part of the last two months, Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos returned to wearing Nike Tiempo boots in the last training session before Tuesday's Champions League game.

Sergio Ramos Returns to Nike Tiempo Legend Boots

Sergio Ramos opted for the Floodlights colorway of the Tiempo Legend VI.

A regular of the Tiempo, Ramos started wearing Adidas blackouts, first the Ace and then the X, in September. For the first time since then, he laced up in regular Nike Tiempo Legend boots on Monday, heavily suggesting that this boot saga could be over for good.

Just recently, Marca, a paper with extremely close ties to Real Madrid and its players, reported that Ramos' contract with Nike was ended earlier this year. It went on to state that a clause in the old contract forced Ramos to wear blackout boots until February 2017. This, coupled with the fact that Nike was named as most likely option together with Adidas suggests that Ramos could have opted to remain with the Swoosh in the end.

We'll make sure to keep an eye on this as the story evolves.
