Ter Stegen Back to Adidas Ahead of Juventus Champions League Clash

Update: Following on his surprising switch to the Nike Magista Obra II football boots and Nike Premier goalkeeper gloves on Sunday, Marc-André ter Stegen has returned to his usual Adidas boots and glove combination (Adidas Ace 17.1 Primeknit cleats and Ace Trans gloves) ahead of the Champions League clash against Juventus.

Replacing Adidas appears to be Nike, which was ter Stegen's choice for both boots and gloves in Sunday's Barcelona training session. Regularly wearing Adidas Ace 17.1 Primeknit cleats and Ace Trans gloves, including in yesterday's Liga game against Espanyol, ter Stegen laced up in Magista Obra 2 boots and opted for Nike Premier goalkeeper gloves.

Despite the fact that today is the first time there's anything to suggest that ter Stegen could leave Adidas, there are a few points that support an imminent confirmation of the move. First, ter Stegen shared the picture on his own Instagram profile, which would be rather odd if he still had a valid contract with Adidas. The fact that neither boots or gloves were blacked-out further supports this angle. Finally, it makes sense for Nike to pick up ter Stegen who is one of five Adidas players in Barcelona's strongest XI, who are of course one of Nike's most important teams.

Either way, one should keep and eye on ter Stegen's feet as well as hands during the next sessions as well as next week's Champions League opener against Juventus.
