The nominees for the 2017 Ballon d'Or award were announced yesterday by France Football. Let's find out which brand makes the most boots for the best players on the planet and which boots are the most popular ones among top players.

2017 Ballon d'Or Nominees - Football Boot Brands & Silos

Nike dominates the battle for the world's best players sponsoring 18 of the 30 footballers nominated for the award. Adidas follows second with nine players under contract, while two players are wearing Puma boots (Buffon & Griezmann).

2017 Ballon d'Or - Boot Brands

Nike: 18

Adidas: 9 (10)

Puma: 2

If we look at the boot silos, it is eye-catching that most players are wearing Adidas' and Nike's speed soccer boots (Nike Mercurial: 10 & Adidas X: 7). This is both because these are the most popular boot silos among players in Europe's Top 5 leagues and because the 2017 Ballon d'Or nominees include many strikers.
