Adidas Predator Accelerator 1998 vs Adidas Predator Human Race 2020 Boots

Pharrell Williams and Paul Pogba have teamed up for a special-edition Predator football boot, the Adidas Human Race Predator 20+. We compare the brand-new limited Predator Humanrace cleats with the inspiration - the Adidas Predator Accelerator 1998 cleats.

The original Adidas Predator Accelerator was launched ahead of the 1998 World Cup. They were headlined by Zinédine Zidane, who won the World Cup in France wearing the famous boots. Besides the iconic design, the Adidas Predator Accelerator 1998 boots feature a leather upper with a new asymmetrical lacing system for a larger striking surface and a semi-transparent outsole.

Adidas Predator Accelerator OG vs Adidas Predator Human Race

The design of the Adidas Predator Human Race is heavily influenced by the Adidas Predator Accelerator OG from 1998. The boot has the same color combo as well as a similar upper design and similar Three Stripes.

The colors of the sole are different, however. The OG Adidas Predator Accelerator boot had a transparent red outsole, whilte the Humanrace comes with a black / red sole design.

The main visual difference is that the Adidas Predator Human Race comes with hand-painted designs, while the original boot from 1998 has "solid" design elements.

If we look at the tech of both boots, they are totally different. The classic Adidas Predator Accelerator 1998 boots had a leather upper with a fold-over tongue, while the Adidas Predator Human Race football boots are identical to the modern laceless Predator 20+ Mutator in terms of tech.

The Adidas Predator Human Race soccer cleats retail at a price of 230 GBP (280 Euro).
