Dortmund to Wear Unreleased Cup Kit vs Besiktas Tonight

Dortmund are set to wear their brand-new 2021-22 Cup kit in today's Champions League opener at Besiktas, despite it not having been officially unveiled yet.

This was already suspected after Dortmund's first team were spotted wearing the linked training collection last night, but today's Youth League U19 clash between the respective U19 teams proved it beyond doubt.

Dortmund won the Youth League match by 3-2 goals, wearing the kit in a slightly adjusted variant featuring youth team sponsor Adesso instead of Evonik.

Already available to buy at lots of independent retailers, we expect Dortmund to officially unveiled the kit later today.

The design is highly controversial among the club's supporters due to it not featuring a regular club badge. It was even slightly adjusted by Puma leading up to the release, changing the DORTMUND text to BVB 09 - matching a classic Adidas shirt worn in the 1970s.

Compared to Puma's standard yellow for the club, Cyber Yellow, the Puma Borussia Dortmund 2021-22 Cup jersey is Safety Yellow, which is a more garish shade of the color, somewhat similar to the iconic hues used by Nike in the mid-1990s.
