Under Armour Southampton 16-17 Kits Released
Southampton today launched its new 16-17 kits, the first made by new Southampton jersey supplier Under Armour. Introducing modern designs, the new Under Armour Southampton 2016-17 home and away shirts are already available to pre-order.
“We’re proud to introduce the latest edition of our iconic red and white stripes, as well as our all-new away kit for the upcoming Premier League season, where we will look to continue our growth and go even better than the record points tally we achieved last season,” said Saints chairman Ralph Krueger.
Southampton 16-17 Home Kit
This is the new Southampton 2016-17 home jersey by Under Armour.
The new Southampton 2016-2017 kit features the club's traditional red and white stripes on the front, while a white panel is present towards the top surrounding the Under Armour and Southampton FC logos. Southampton's club motto 'We march on' is printed on the back of the neck of the Southampton 16-17 home shirt. The sleeves are solid red with black and white cuffs.
Last but not least, the back of the Southampton 16-17 home shirt continues the striping seen on the front, confirming that the Premier League's new 'striped back' rule is not happening for at least another year.
Southampton FC explained the unusual striping on the front of the Southampton 2016-17 jersey the following way: "The stripes appear in blocks of five to represent Southampton’s five core brand values." Apparently, this style is replicated in the piping on the shorts of the Southampton 2016-2017 home kit.
Black shorts and hooped socks complete the modern look of the Southampton 16-17 home kit.

Based on the same template, the Southampton 2016-17 away jersey is black and grey, while splashes of red are used as well. The shorts of the Southampton 16-17 away kit are grey, while the socks are again hooped.

Good or Bad? Rexona Armpit Sponsorship on 2026 World Cup Referee Shirts
Update - Tuesday, June 23, 2026: Following our publication, Rexona contacted us to provide additional context on the activation.
According to Ben Curtis, Global Brand Vice President for Rexona at Unilever, the sponsorship is intended to highlight fourth officials, who "may not always be the focus of attention but are at the centre of some of football's most intense and anticipated moments," as part of Rexona's "It Won't Let You Down" campaign during the FIFA World Cup 2026. "They need to remain cool and calm under pressure - That's exactly why this partnership is such a natural fit for Rexona."
The 2026 World Cup referee shirts feature one of the most amusing and strategic sponsorship placements seen in football. Deodorant brand Rexona has their logo positioned directly under the armpits of the match officials' jerseys, creating a highly contextual advertising opportunity.
The Rexona logo remains largely hidden during regular play but becomes clearly visible whenever a referee raises their arms to signal a free kick, award a penalty, or issue a card. This placement perfectly matches the deodorant product being advertised, resulting in a memorable piece of marketing on the sport's biggest stage.
While this specific placement has caught the attention of fans during the 2026 tournament, it is not entirely unprecedented. A similar concept was previously executed in Brazil, where Avanço deodorant sponsored the armpits of Corinthians. However, Rexona's execution at a World Cup brings the clever concept to a massive global audience.
