Sevilla Loses Main Sponsor Midway Through Season
As some of you will have noticed, the Puerto Rico sponsor recently disappeared from Sevilla's jerseys, starting with the game against Las Palmas on February 12.
Puerto Rico Relegated to Secondary Sponsor at Sevilla
Check out some pics of the front sponsor-less Sevilla uniform worn against Las Palmas below.
Although the sponsorship was only closed a few months back, in late October to be exact, the Puerto Rico tourism authority no longer is the main shirt sponsor of Sevilla. Instead, "Visit Puerto Rico" now appears on the lower back of the jerseys.
This was officially confirmed by both sides, with Sevilla announcing that Puerto Rico made use of a pre-agreed clause to reduce the sponsorship volume by half and move it into the secondary rank of sponsors.
Puerto Rico blamed the country's economic woes for this move, which was taken by the new government after the elections on November 8.
Lastly, Sevilla is already on the lookout for a new main sponsor reportedly, although no concrete rumors have surfaced so far.
