Zip Collar?! Scunthorpe United 26-27 Third Kit Released
- New Third Kit Released: Scunthorpe United and Meyba have officially launched the club's 26-27 third kit, which features an uncommon quarter-zip polo collar, a first in the club's history.
- Launch Collaboration: The kit was launched in collaboration with local singer-songwriter Will Parker, who presented the shirt alongside his new song "Nobody Can Know."
- Illegal Feature Concern: The quarter-zip collar is potentially forbidden for player use by IFAB Law 4 (The Players' Equipment) due to safety concerns regarding rigid or sharp components.
Scunthorpe United and Spanish brand Meyba have officially launched the club's new third kit for the 26-27 season, and it comes with a very uncommon feature.
The launch was created in collaboration with local singer-songwriter Will Parker, who presented the shirt at Glanford Park alongside the release of his song "Nobody Can Know."
Scunthorpe United 26-27 Third Kit
The Meyba Scunthorpe United 26-27 third shirt is predominantly dark green, adorned with an intricate, tonal repeating pattern across the front and back. Vibrant lime green accents frame the collar, sleeve cuffs, side panels, and Meyba's signature shoulder track motif.
The standout design element is the polo collar equipped with a quarter-zip fastening, marking the first time in the club's history that a zipper has been incorporated into their playing kit. However, this quarter-zip might be only on the replica kits.
According to IFAB Law 4 (The Players' Equipment), players are strictly forbidden from wearing anything that is dangerous to themselves or others. Because zippers contain rigid plastic or sharp metal components, they pose an obvious hazard during heavy contact, aerial duels, or slide tackles, and are therefore forbidden.
Scunthorpe United currently competes in the National League North (the 6th tier of English football). They might get away with the zipper, but we do not think so.
Completing the look, the British Steel front-of-shirt sponsorship appears in white alongside the company's vibrant orange emblem, while the club crest on the chest is rendered in a two-tone palette.
