Iceland Euro 2016 Kits Released

Italian brand Errèa just unveiled the all-new Iceland kits for Euro 2016. Set to be worn at Iceland's first-ever participation at a major tournament, the new Iceland 2016 jerseys boasts designs in the colors of the Icelandic flag, blue, white and red.

Errèa has been Iceland shirt supplier since 2004 and, although it was rumored a 'bigger' brand could take over for the Iceland Euro 2016 kits, produces the new Iceland home and away shirts.

Iceland Euro 2016 Home Kit

This is the new Iceland Euro 2016 jersey.

The Iceland Euro 2016 shirt is blue with white sleeve cuffs and a partly white collar. A red-and-white stripes, deriving from the Icelandic flag and the Iceland federation badge, runs down the left side of the new Iceland jersey, while the inside of the shirt reads 'Fyrir Island' (For Iceland) in large white letters. Rounding off the design is the Icelandic flag, placed on the upper back below the neckline.

Blue shorts and socks will be worn together with the Iceland 2016 shirt to create an all-blue look.

Iceland Euro 2016 Away Kit

This image shows the all-new Iceland away shirt by Errèa.

Based on the same template as the Iceland home shirt, the new Iceland away kit is predominantly white. Two red, two white and a red stripe run down on the left side of the new Iceland away jersey, inspired by the Icelandic flag. A remarkable collar construction in blue and white, with Island being written on a tape on the inside completes the modern-yet-bold look of the Iceland Euro 2016 away kit.

Iceland Euro 2016 Goalkeeper Kits

These appear to be the new Iceland goalkeeper jerseys, but could also be alternative player jerseys for the case of kit clashes.

Again based on the same template, the Iceland 2016 goalkeeper shirts are black and fluorescent yellow, respectively. Both feature the iconic stripe on the left chest.

FIFA Denies Guillermo Ochoa 2026 World Cup Legacy Patch Over Appearance Rules

Guillermo Ochoa has been denied the chance to wear FIFA's new legacy patch at the 2026 World Cup. Despite being selected for six World Cup tournaments spanning from 2006 to 2026, the Mexican goalkeeper does not meet the strict criteria set by FIFA. The governing body requires players to have made on-pitch appearances in at least five different World Cups to qualify for the special badge.

Ochoa did not play any minutes during the 2006 and 2010 tournaments, meaning he has only registered on-pitch appearances in three World Cups prior to the 2026 edition. Because of this, FIFA officially refused to award him the patch. Other veterans playing in the tournament, such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric, Manuel Neuer, and Yuto Nagatomo, have received the legacy patch for meeting the five-tournament appearance threshold.

The Mexican Football Federation is reportedly planning to push for a reconsideration of the ruling. If Ochoa features in a match during the 2026 tournament, the federation intends to appeal FIFA's decision in hopes of securing the legacy patch for the veteran goalkeeper.
