Bochum 16-17 Kits Released

Bundesliga 2 team VfL Bochum today unveiled its new home, away and third kits for the upcoming 2016-17 season. Once again produced by Nike and taken from the brand's teamwear offering, this year's Bochum jerseys are in fact all based on the same 'Striker IV' template.

Bochum 16-17 Home Kit

This is the new Nike VfL Bochum home jersey for the 2016-2017 Bundesliga 2 season.

As detailed above, the new Bochum 2016-17 kit is based on Nike's Striker IV teamwear shirt, in the blue and white variant. Thus, it sees a bright blue base accompanied by white accents in the form of the v-collar, the sleeve cuffs and a broad stripe on the sleeves and upper back. Blue Shorts and white socks complete a look for the Bochum 16-17 home uniform that draws inspiration from Nike's Euro 2016 kits.

Perhaps the most interesting feature of the new Bochum jersey is the font used for the player numbers as the club has chosen a very classic 3D design that oozes tradition.

Bochum 2016-17 Away Kit

This is the new Bochum 16-17 away shirt.

The Bochum 2016-17 away shirt is red with white details and is once again combined with shorts of the same color and white socks.

Bochum 16-17 Third Kit

This is the new Nike Bochum third jersey.

The Bochum third jersey reverts the color scheme of the home shirt. It is white and features a blue collar, blue sleeve cuffs and a blue stripe on the upper back and sleeves. Instead of the Booster sponsor logo seen on the home kit, the Bochum 2016-2017 third kit boasts the yellow-and-red Netto logo.

What are your thoughts on the new Bochum 16-17 home, away and third kits.

National Team Crest Evolutions

Renowned football designer Emilio Sansolini (@EmilioSansolini) has published a comprehensive visual overview highlighting the evolution of national team crests around the world. Titled 'Then & Now', the graphics showcase dozens of international football federations, comparing their previous badges directly with their current modern redesigns.

The visual collection covers major footballing nations alongside smaller federations across all major continental confederations. High-profile rebrands featured in the comparison include France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Brazil, Mexico, and the United States, illustrating the widespread shift toward minimalist aesthetics, modernized heraldry, and sleeker digital styling over the past decade.

While many modern redesigns aim to create cleaner, more scalable digital logos, fan reactions to these visual shifts remain mixed. Minimalist updates for nations like Spain, Mexico, and South Korea have often sparked debate regarding traditional heritage versus modern branding, whereas updates for federations such as Iceland, Costa Rica, and Venezuela have generally received praise for introducing fresh identity concepts.
