Nike To Release Revolutionary Self-Lacing Basketball Shoe

Nike today announced that they will release an all-new, revolutionary self-lacing basketball shoe tomorrow. Set to be called the Nike Adapt BB Basketball Shoe, the shoe was teased with a short video.

Nike is famous for their self-lacing shoes. In 1989, Marty McFly laced up his Nike Mags in 1989’s in the science fiction film Back To The Future 2. The self-lacing technology was brought to "mass" market in 2016 with a running / training sneaker — the HyperAdapt 1.0, a shoe that was available for $720.

The new basketball silo has not yet been revealed in full yet but just teased. Nike posted a short teaser video that showed some of basketball’s best young stars like Jayson Tatum and De’Aaron Fox trying the shoes on and their disbelief when the self-lacing system’s motor begins to whir.

It will be likely also possible to connect the shoe with the wearer’s phone, possibly to customize the fit.

Nike will fully unveil their “Future Of The Game” tomorrow, January 15th, at 8am EST.

Interestingly, similar to the launch of the revolutionary Nike Magista football boot in 2014 ("Football will never be the same"), the basketball shoe was teased with the slogan ("The game will never be the same.").

It seems possible that Nike will anytime soon bring the self-lacing technology to football (soccer), similar as they have done in the past with other groundbreaking innovations (Flyknit, Flywire, React etc.).
