Spectacular Nike Tiempo Van Dijk Signature Boot Concept Revealed

Virgil Van Dijk has won the Champions League and is well on the way to the Premier League title with Liverpool at the end of 2019. He's had a fantastic year that almost saw him become the first defender since Cannavaro in '06 to win the Ballon d'Or.

To celebrate Van Dijk's status as the best defender in the world and a year of massive achievements, @gunt22 has created a concept design of how a Nike Tiempo signature edition for the Dutchman could look like.

The boots boast an eye-catching and fierce look. Predominantly black, they use the Dutch orange for the Swooshes on the side and sole plate as well as for the sockliner.

In the absence of an official logo, Gunt22 has made his own one - a stylized bull's skull. It appears most prominently on the toebox but also features as part of the 'VVD' writing on the sockliner.

Unfortunately, these boots will not be released officially by Nike. However, we could see the brand release a special-edition cleat for Van Dijk later this season. At this point in time a "Nike by You" (formerly Nike iD) creation seems more likely than a full-fledged custom design. Nike did 'iD' special-edition boots for Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy when Leicester won the title in 2016.
