Happy Birthday Capitano - Totti's Top 10 Roma Kits
It's Francesco Totti's birthday today, so we've selected the ten best kits he wore for the club where he spent the entirety of his career, AS Roma.
Totti's Top 10 Roma Kits
Scudetto winning captain of his hometown club, World Cup winner with his country, symbol of his city and generation-spanning icon for fans of the game worldwide, Francesco Totti has a legacy that has no equal. From his 1993 debut, through Serie A's glory days in the 90s all the way into the late 2010s, Totti was an ever present for the side he supported as a boy, even if a falling out with coach Luciano Spalletti limited his game time towards the end of his playing days. Adored not just for his longevity and loyalty, but also the magic he produced with the ball at his feet, it's hard to imagine any player coming close to replicating the career of l'Ottavo Re di Roma in the future.
Across his many years with the first team, Roma had a total of 87 different shirts, according to footballkitrchive.com. Although we can't say for sure if Il Capitano himself played a game in every single one, it's a safe bet to say no other player has worn more Giallorossi shirts than Totti . We've chosen our top 10 from the ones he pulled on for some of his 786 games for Roma.
10. 16-17 Away
The last away kit Totti wore for the club, this stone coloured number came a few years before the off-white trend and was the first Nike Roma shirt to feature the Lupetto logo.
9. 13-14 Home
This clean and simple design was produced in-house after the club cancelled their contract with Kappa over quality issues.
8. 16-17 Special
A deeper shade of maroon and gold trim were used to great effect for this 90th anniversary shirt, with the addition of the SPQR (Senātus Populusque Rōmānus, the motto of ancient Rome) lettering a brilliant use of the vacant space on the front.
7. 02-03 Home
Kappa Kombat, minimal details needed, the perfect balance of main to accent colours and a good-looking sponsor. Almost identical to their Scudetto-winning 00-01 shirt but with a more flattering neckline and a splash more orange on the cuffs.
6. 00-01 Away
A plain white number also from the Kappa Kombat era, the orange outline on the navy Kappa logos and the dark red sponsor logo work together to make what should be a boring shirt beautiful.
5. 99-00 Home
One of a number of fantastic jerseys Diadora produced during their first spell with Roma, this one had giant Lupetti outlines on each sleeve which blended perfectly with the rest of the orange trim.
4. 98-99 Away
Yes it's the same as that season's home jersey but in white, but the accent colours complement the base so well.
3. 02-03 European
As well as great home and away shirts, Kappa produced some quality European efforts for Roma too. The orange sleeves contrasted with the black cuffs and collar put a fresh spin on the typical home colourway and the black shorts finished the job.
2. 98-99 Home
Yes we already put the away shirt of the same template at number four, but both deserve their spots here. Diadora subbing in the Lupetto in place of their own logo for the sleeve taping was a masterstroke. Piping on the shoulders and the polo collar make this a bonafide 90s classic.
1. 92-93 Home
The shirt Totti wore on his debut. The simplicity of the design, the perfectly proportioned two tone colourway and the holy trinity of the Trefoil, the Barilla sponsor and the monochrome Lupetto. Proprio una bellissima maglietta. If the rumours about Adidas returning to the Italian capital are true, they would be fools not to reproduce this shirt.

Update - Saturday, June 27, 2026: Haaland even matched the look of his hair ties to Norway's 2026 World Cup pre-match jersey.
Erling Haaland has brought a unique level of coordination to the 2026 World Cup by matching his Kknekki hair ties to Norway's matchday uniforms.
The striker opted for a black hair tie to perfectly complement Norway's black away shirt, following up on a previous match against Iraq where he paired a red hairband with the nation's traditional red home kit.
The accessory, made by the Norwegian brand Bon Dep in which Haaland holds a financial stake, has proven highly effective at keeping his signature hairstyle intact and has quickly gone viral online, driving significant sales and search interest.
