Conmebol Suggest Brazil to Add Three Hearts on Logo in Honor of Pelé

The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) have suggested the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) a change of their logo in honor of football legend Pelé. Thanks to Mantos do Futebol for info and the picture of the logo.

Pelé is 82 years old and is in the Albert Einstein hospital, in São Paulo, treating a respiratory infection. "The King" Pelé is the only three-time world champion (1958, 1962, 1970).

Conmebol President Proposes Brazil Football Federation (CBF) to Add Three Hearts on Shield in Honor of Pelé

Conmebol president Alejandro Domínguez suggested CBF to add three hearts on the shield in honor of Pelé. The change would make reference to the hometown of Pelé, Três Corações (Três Corações translates to Three Hearts) and the three titles won by the King of Football.

Pelé was born in Três Corações (Three Hearts), in Minas Gerais.

The Brazilian Football Federation were represented by Fernando Sarney, vice-president, who thanked Conmebol for the suggestion and said that the Brazilian Confederation would analyze the proposal.

Our Conclusion - Nice Idea, Certainly Won't Become Reality

However, while the idea sounds nice at first glance, it is not sure if FIFA would allow Brazil to change their logo. FIFA allow a star for each World Cup title. It might be possible to only change the logo of the confederation, however.

It is the first time that Conmebol come up with a unique suggestion. Some weeks ago, they had the idea to let teams play with retro kits in the 2030 World Cup (celebrating the first World Cup that took place in 1930, 100 years ago).

What do you think about Conmebol's idea for CBF to honor Pelé with three hearts instead of three stars? Comment below.
