Sporting Clube de Portugal's new 2023-24 third shirt was released today. It is made by Nike and will be worn in next season's Primeira Liga campaign. The club and Nike have decided to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Estádio Jose Alvalade debut by placing his CR7 logo on the chest.

The Nike Sporting CP 2023-24 third shirt has a black torso with gold sleeves. White trim is found on the cuffs, with the club badge woven in white and gold thread.
The most notable aspect of the Nike Sporting 2023-24 third football shirt is of course the CR7 logo in place of the Nike Swoosh. Another Ronaldo heart logo - that has been used by Nike on CR7 collections and boots before - is placed on the back of the neck.
Sporting Lisbon are deservedly proud of having brought one of the best players in history through their youth academy and given him his start in professional football, but the reaction to the shirt from Sporting fans online has been largely negative. Many see it as an embarrassing gesture, citing the "no player is bigger than the club" mantra.
What do you make of this decision? Do you find it strange that Sporting have used Ronaldo's logo on their shirts while he is still an active professional, playing for another team? Or do you see it as a nice tribute to the best player they've ever produced? Comment below.
