Unique Dual-Year Messi World Cup "Golden Ball" Badge at 2026 World Cup
Lionel Messi is sporting a highly exclusive detail on his Argentina kit at the 2026 World Cup. As highlighted by @jerseystory_vn, Messi's left sleeve features a unique dual-year Golden Ball badge, honoring his achievements as the Player of the Tournament at both the 2014 and 2022 World Cups. Messi is the only player in the tournament to wear a badge commemorating two Golden Ball awards, with Croatia's Luka Modric being the only other player to wear a Golden Ball patch for his 2018 award.
The special golden shield is located on the left sleeve of the Argentina shirt, but it is frequently hidden from view during matches as it sits beneath Messi's captain's armband. The badge adds to an already heavily decorated Argentina 2026 kit for the legendary number 10.
Alongside the dual-year Golden Ball patch, Messi's shirt is adorned with several other gold details. These include the central FIFA World Champions badge from their 2022 triumph, the golden 2026 World Cup sleeve patch, and the Legacy badge, which is awarded to players who have participated in five or more World Cup tournaments.
