2024-25 UEFA Champions League Kit Battle - Nike is the Surprising Winner So Far

  • Nike's Current Success: Nike has four out of six teams in the top six of the Champions League despite only outfitting eight teams overall.
  • Big Brand Dominance: Adidas, Nike, and Puma provide kits for 75% of the Champions League teams.
  • Small Brand Impact: Smaller brands, including Castore and Macron, outfit just over 25% of the teams, mainly outsiders.

Update - November 7, 2024: The 2024–25 UEFA Champions League is halfway through its new league phase, with Nike emerging as a winner so far, boasting four teams in the top six (of eight teams in total only), while Adidas and Puma trail behind.

The 2024–25 UEFA Champions League is the first with 36 teams. Ahead of the draw this evening, we look at the kit makers of the 36 teams, in collaboration with Football Kit Archive,

2024–25 UEFA Champions League Kit Battle

Unsurprisingly, the big three brands (Adidas, Nike, and Puma) dominate the landscape, providing kits for almost 75% of the teams. Adidas leads with ten teams, closely followed by Puma and Nike, each outfitting eight teams.

Castore is the only smaller brand outfitting more than one team

Smaller brands make up just a bit more than 25% of the competition. Notably, Castore is outfitting three teams, while Macron has two. All other small brands only have one team under contract.

The dominance of major brands showcases their deep pockets, allowing them to sign every team they want. As the competition progresses, it will be interesting to see if the smaller brands can challenge the big players' dominance - the small brands make the kits for outsiders mainly, but clubs like Bayer Leverkusen (Castore) might beat the big teams and brands.

Best & Worst 2024–25 UEFA Champions League Kits So Far

When it comes to the best and worst-rated kits, the dominance of the big three is even bigger. There is no other brand than Adidas, Nike, or Puma in the Top 10 - both for the best and worst - they virtually own the competition, at least when it starts.
