Real Sporting Gijón Wears Last Year's Training Kit Due to Kit Clash
- Kit Clash: Real Sporting Gijón had to wear last year's training kit because their home and away kits clashed with Mirandés' uniform.
- Crest Registration Issue: Sporting Gijón's white third kit is pending approval due to a delay in the registration of Sporting's historic crest by the Patent and Trademark Office.
- Limited Availability: The fluorescent yellow training shirt worn in the match will not be available for purchase as it was an adapted kit from the club's stock.
Real Sporting Gijón found themselves in an unusual kit crisis ahead of their match against Mirandés on Friday.
Sporting Wears 24-25 Training Shirt For 25-26 La Liga Match
Sporting Gijón has three official kits for the 2025-26 season, but they can only use two - their white third kit remains pending approval as the club awaits validation of Sporting's historic crest registration by the Patent and Trademark Office.
The white kit could not be worn as the special crest has not been registered by the patent office yet
Sporting's home and away kits clashed with the opposition's home uniform. The Spanish second-division club was forced to wear last year's fluorescent yellow training shirt as an emergency solution. Instead of the monochrome logo, Sporting Gijón applied the full-color crest on the makeshift kit.
The situation was compounded by outgoing kit supplier Puma, who will be replaced by Gijón-based brand Siroko next season, not providing alternative solutions for the match. The already "famous" yellow shirt worn by players including Corredera and Perrin will not be available for purchase, as it was an adapted kit already in the club's stock rather than an official retail release.
