Custom Nike Tiempo Ligera Van Dijk Boots
The new Van Dijk custom Nike Tiempo Ligera boots are based on the Tiempo Ligera “Breakout” edition, enhanced with unique custom details and subtle, meaningful touches on the heel.
On the back of the heel tab, his first name "Virgil" is embroidered in an elegant script font, replacing the standard Nike script branding typically seen on the retail model.
Positioned neatly just below the script lettering are small circular country flags. The left boot features the flag of Suriname, while the right boot carries the red, white, and blue tricolor of the Netherlands. Alongside the flag details, the side of the boot features the names of his children accompanied by small love hearts.
The inclusion of both flags honors the Liverpool center-back's roots. Born and raised in Breda, Netherlands, to a Dutch father and a Surinamese mother, Van Dijk has always stayed connected to his maternal heritage.
He follows in the footsteps of many iconic Dutch internationals who share Surinamese ancestry, from legends like Ruud Gullit, Frank Rijkaard, and Clarence Seedorf to modern teammates such as Ryan Gravenberch and Xavi Simons.
The meaningful boots were on full display as Van Dijk reached a historic milestone, earning his 100th international cap for the Netherlands. Walking out as captain with his son as mascot, the custom boots provided the perfect symbol of family and heritage on a landmark night in his career.
