Missing Swoosh: Manchester United Release In-House Remakes of Classic Nike Kits

  • Manchester United's New Retro Collection: Manchester United has launched an official retro collection featuring in-house remakes of popular Nike-era kits from the 2000s, including designs with classic sponsors like Vodafone and AIG.
  • The Missing Nike Swoosh Dilemma: A significant point of debate among collectors is the absence of the iconic Nike Swoosh on these remade jerseys, as the club manufactures them in-house and cannot legally include the original brand's logo.
  • Aesthetic Impact of the Missing Logo: The lack of the Nike Swoosh disrupts the original aesthetic balance of the kits, leaving the right chest area noticeably blank and making the missing manufacturer's mark an unintended focal point of the designs.

Manchester United have expanded their official retro collection with remakes of several fan-favorite kits from the 2000s, but the releases have sparked debate among shirt collectors. Available via the club's official online store, the range features reproductions of Nike-era classics, including the 2002-04 home and 2002-03 third shirts with Vodafone branding, as well as the 2007-08 black away and the 2007-09 Champions League home jersey complete with 2008 Moscow final embroidery.

Manchester United In-House Remake Collection: The Missing Swoosh Dilemma

Unlike Adidas' official reissues of 1980s and early 1990s designs that carry the authentic Trefoil, these 2000s jerseys are manufactured in-house by the club. While Manchester United managed to get the rights to reproduce the classic sponsors like Vodafone and AIG, they naturally cannot include the Nike Swoosh. This creates an awkward aesthetic issue: Nike's kits from that era relied on the balance between the crest, sponsor, and the Swoosh on the right chest.

The missing logo destroys the balance

Without the iconic manufacturer mark, the right chest area is left completely blank, making the absence of the logo the unintended focal point of the shirt. The balance is just not there, especially since the designs are very simple.

Kelme Brisbane Roar 26-27 Home, Away, Third & Goalkeeper Kits Released - No More Cikers

Brisbane Roar and Spanish brand Kelme have officially launched the club's new kit collection for the 26-27 A-Leagues campaign. The drop represents the manufacturer's first full league set for the Queensland side after signing a three-year technical partnership earlier this year, succeeding previous supplier Cikers.

The 26-27 home kit marks a return to the club's traditional orange and black combination. The jersey features a textured orange base, black trim along the collar and cuffs, and is completed with black shorts and orange socks. The away jersey provides a crisp contrast with an off-white base accented by maroon detailing and shorts, celebrating Queensland's traditional sporting colour. Across the jerseys, the men's team features new primary partner Focus Construct on the front, while the women's shirts display Ausenco.

A major highlight of the release is the retro theme seen across the alternate designs. The vibrant blue third kit revives Brisbane Roar's original 2005 logo above an embossed lion graphic sweeping across the bottom front, accented with orange details. The retro crest also takes center stage on the maroon goalkeeper shirt, which features an elegant polo collar framed by orange piping.
