Toulouse FC took to the pitch with a striking, unusual detail on the back of their shirts this weekend, featuring intentionally blurred player names. The creative visual effect was worn during their away clash against Le Mans as part of a nationwide visual health awareness initiative marking World Sight Day.
Named "Le Floot," the campaign is a collaboration between the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), ophthalmic optics giant Essilor, and selected clubs across France. The names on the jerseys are printed with a distinct motion blur and chromatic aberration effect, humorously asking fans "Vous voyez floot?" (Are you seeing blurred?) to mimic vision problems and prompt football fans to get their eyes checked regularly under the slogan "Bien voir, c'est bien vivre le foot."
Toulouse FC are not the only side involved in the campaign during this 26-27 matchday. Similar blurred flockings and awareness stunts have been rolled out across selected Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 fixtures throughout the weekend, including Lyon versus Nice, Paris FC against Rennes, and Metz facing Sochaux, supplemented by stadium screen takeovers and on-site eye exams.
