Too Many Boots For One Player? Under Armour x Memphis Depay

Another day, another new boot. Memphis Depay debuted the new Under Armour Speedform DreamChaser Boots in his first Premier League match, and it was already his fourth different boot this season.

While Memphis Depay laced up in four different boots since the start of the 2015-16 pre-season, players such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar have worn only one boot this season, respectively. So the question arises if Memphis Depay received too many soccer cleats at such an early stage of his career.

Too many boots for Memphis Depay

Memphis Depay switched to Under Armour Boots earlier this year.

Memphis Depay wore Adidas F50 Adizero Boots in the 2014 World Cup, while he made a big-money switch to Under Armour in early March 2015. On May 5 2015, Manchester United and PSV Eindhoven reached an agreement for the player's transfer, and the Dutch winger singed a four-year contract.

I swear this guy has had more boots than Ronaldo in a whole season..

Memphis Depay already laced up in the black Under Armour Speedform Leather Boots ahead of the official launch in early May. On May 15 2015, Under Armour and Memphis Depay launched the all-new Under Armour Speedform Cleats in London, made for fast players featuring a lightweight boot concept.

On June 5, Under Armour launched the first-ever signature Memphis Depay Boots boasting a stunning golden and orange design drawing inspiration from his home country. Depay debuted the unique Gold / Orange Under Armour Speedform Soccer Cleats in the friendly against USA on the same date. After that things quited down in the summer break.

Memphis Depay wore his black Under Armour Speedform Leather Boots in his first Manchester United training session on July 7, and from then things came tick and fast. Memphis Depay received two new signature boots (Black / Gold Under Armour Speedform Boots - 29 July), and the Under Armour DreamChaser Boots for his Premier League debut on August 8. He also laced up in the Blue / Orange Under Armour Speedform Boots, and is set to wear a hand-signed boot in the coming weeks.

Under Armour going crazy with him.

Memphis Depay has already received three different signature boots in less than five months with Under Armour, while Brazil superstar Neymar just received two signature Nike Boots yet. It's quite obvious that Under Armour has released too many boots for one player in such a short time, and should try to sign more players for making a lasting impression in the football market.

Here are some of the comments from Footy Headlines users:

Under Armour going crazy with him. The silo has been around for a few months and he's been through more colorways than a normal player does through a season.
I wonder what UA will do if he wins a Ballon d'Or or player of the year or top scorer? I wish him the best but this is what is wrong with sports and entertainment in general these days when everyone is a star and over-hyped for doing nothing.
I swear this guy has had more boots than Ronaldo in a whole season.. And the season hasn't even begun..

However, the designs of Under Armour's Memphis Depay Boots are amazing, and we would love to see the first regular signature Under Armour Memphis Depay Boots available to purchase. There just shouldn't be too many boots for one player.
