Here Is The Full History Of The Nike Mercurial Superfly
With the launch of the lightest Nike Mercurial football boot ever, Nike's obsession for lightweight product pushed the Mercurial silo into a new era. Nike therefore created came up with a new name, Superfly. Superfly became the highest expression of the Mercurial idea — the lightest and fastest. 2009 - Nike Mercurial Superfly
The first-ever Superfly model was the lightest Nike football boot at that time. Featuring a carbon-fiber sole plate and Nike's all-new Flywire strings, the Nike Mercurial Superfly I was one of the biggest steps in the evolution of the Mercurial.
The handcrafted boot exemplified Nike's obsession for lightweight product and pushed the silo into a new era. Its properties demanded a new name, Superfly. While the rest of the Mercurial iterations continued, Superfly became the highest expression of the Mercurial idea — the lightest and fastest.
2010 - Nike Mercurial Superfly II
The Nike Mercurial Superfly 2 introduced Nike's Sense technology, innovative studs extended and retracted by millimeters based on pressure and ground conditions. For the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the Mercurial Vapor Superfly II was also given an Elite Series makeup featuring a carbon fiber plate for less weight.
2011 - Nike Mercurial Superfly III
Made for ultimate speed, the third incarnation of the Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly reduced the risk of slipping with a toe-off traction and a tri-blade configuration to maximize speed during directional changes. It should be the last new Superfly for the following years.
2014 - Nike Mercurial Superfly IV
The biggest step in the evolution of the Superfly range, the Nike Mercurial Superfly 4 was the first-ever knitted football boot with a carbon sole plate.
2016 - Nike Mercurial Superfly V
Ahead of the Euro 2016 in France, Nike released the fifth generation of the Nike Mercurial Superfly soccer cleat. The second knitted and the latest Nike Mercurial Superfly football boot, the Nike Mercurial Superfly 5 brought an all-new sole plate to Nike's cutting-edge speed boot.
