Full Next-Gen Adidas X 17 Overview - 17+ Purespeed vs 17.1 vs 17.2 vs 17.3 vs 17.4
Almost exactly one year after the second generation was launched, Adidas unveiled the third generation of the X 17 football boots. Let's found out what has changed with the top and lower-tier variants compared to the previous generation.
We can already reveal that not much has changed in a year with the Adidas X 17 football boot. There are a few new models and some tech changes, however.
Adidas X 17+ Purespeed - 250 GBP, 300 Euro, 300 USD
The Adidas X 17+ PureChaos cleats are the most expensive choice of this comparison, retailing at €300. They feature all of Adidas's latest technologies such as NSG (Non Stop Grip technology). They are very similar to the last generation (same outsole), while the upper is reported to be a bit thicker and better connect to the collar.
Interestingly, Adidas also launched the first-ever truly laceless Adidas X 17+ football boot. An exclusive indoor model, the Adidas X Tango 17+ Purespeed is likely the most revolutionary and interesting boot model of the Adidas X 17 collection.
Adidas X 17.1 - 180 GBP, 220 Euro, 200 USD
Retailing at €220, the Adidas X 17.1 version is the second high-end Adidas X 17 top version. Also available for SG (soft ground) and AG (artificial grass) surfaces, in addition to the standard FG (firm ground). It is worn by the likes of Luis Suárez or Marcelo.
Adidas X 17.2 - 110 GBP, 130 Euro, 130 USD
Unlike the Adidas X 17+ and 17.1 versions, the Adidas X 17.1 football boots come without an external heel counter. The sole plate is very similar in terms of stud alignment, however. The techfit compression upper is much thicker than the one of the Adidas X 17.1 soccer shoes.
Adidas X 17.3 - 70 GBP, 80 Euro, 75 USD
The Adidas X 17.3 retails at €80. The cleat comes with a techfit compression upper and a mid-cut design with a relatively thick neoprene collar for stability. The outsole is the same used for the Adidas X 17.2 version.
Adidas X 17.4 - 43 GBP, 50 Euro, 50 USD
The Adidas X 17.4 soccer cleat is the cheapest Adidas X boot available. The cleat retails at €50 and is available for indoor and turf surfaces as well. The cleat features no collar, a durable synthetic upper and a standard FG outsole.
