Update: Following on our article about the problem with the sole pate of the all-new Nike Mercurial 360 2018 football boots, several followers have reported that the sole plate of their Nike Mercurial 2018 soccer cleat also chipped. Two of them sent us pictures of their boots.

The next-generation Nike Mercurial 360 soccer cleats introduce an all-new design without a traditional sole plate. Now football boot expert @pjimenez71 posted a picture on Instagram of the broken (chipped) sole of his black Nike Mercurial Vapor 360 soccer cleats.

The next-generation Nike Mercurial Superfly & Vapor football boots introduce an all-new 360° Flyknit construction that eliminates the soleplate altogether. In fact, the boot just comes with two separate plates in the front and the back.

"This new innovation hugs the foot and eliminates the gaps between the foot and the soleplate. In fact, it eliminates the soleplate altogether,” explains Max Blau, VP of Nike Football Footwear."

Some weeks ago, the all-new construction of the Nike Mercurial 360 2018 boots already caused controversy after the cleats of Eren Derdiyok were extremely bent, causing nearly a horror injury.
