A look back at the history reveals that this year's final is the first-ever final in which two Nike-sponsored teams face each other. This is in stark contrast to the 2014 World Cup final when Adidas-sponsored Argentina faced Adidas-sponsored Germany - an all-Adidas final.
In fact it is just the fourth time that there is a final between teams sponsored by the same brand - there had been three 'Adidas World Cup finals' so far (1978, 1990, 2014).
