Court Orders Rafinha to Wear Adidas Boots Again

An Amsterdam court has ordered Rafinha to again wear Adidas boots or face a fine of up to €1 million.

It was decided that Rafinha has to pay Adidas €10,000 for each day he refuses to honor his contract, up to a maximum of €1 million. This may sound costly, but Adidas' demands far exceeded these numbers: the three-stripe brand was seeking a fine of €100,000 per day.

In addition to the fine, Rafinha will have to pay for the costs of the trial.

Adidas had sued the Barcelona midfielder, who is out until the end of the season with a knee injury, claiming that Rafinha's contract was automatically extended beyond its initial runtime of five years.

Rafinha, who had thought the deal was over this summer, had switched to wearing Mizuno boots, which he blacked out as well.
