Umtiti to Join Puma

Update: Umtiti finally made his return to the pitch for an official game in the league away match against Sevilla. For the game, he laced up in a pair of less than perfectly 'blacked-out' Puma Future boots.

In training earlier today, Umtiti wore a pair of all-black Puma Futures. Everything continues to indicate that the Frenchman is the latest high-profile player to sign Puma and an official announcement could be imminent.

Original article - Feb 8: Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti returned to group training today after more than two months out injured. A Nike regular, he did so wearing Puma prompting speculation that he could be the latest big signing by the German brand, following on the likes of his team mate Luis Suarez and David Silva of Manchester City.

The 2018 World Cup winner, who usually wears the Nike Phantom Vision, laced up in the Puma Future 19.1 cleats, which are the same boots worn by Suarez.

Umtiti did not play a single official game this year (and in some time generally), which means it could be possible his Nike contract has ended since his last game, against Atlético in November.

It's been reported that Umtiti targets the Champions League first leg at Olympique Lyon, his former club, for his full return - so stay tuned for updates on this story as it evolves.

Interestingly, when he made the return to the pitch for some solo sessions a short while ago, he did so wearing classic Nike CTR boots.
