Here Is What Inspired Man Utd's Adidas 19-20 Home Kit

Adidas released the new Manchester United 2019-20 home kit this week. We take a look at what inspired Adidas for next season's Manchester Utd jersey. Thanks to Classic Football Shirts for the information and pictures.

Adidas Manchester United 19-20 Home Kit Pays Homage to 1999 Champions League-Winning Kit

The Adidas Manchester United 2019-2020 home kit is a tribute to the 1999 Champions League-winning jersey - it comes with a shield crest similar to the kit worn 20 years ago in the UEFA Champions League final against Bayern München on May 26 1999.

Other nods to the famous '99 final are printed on the sleeves, where the minutes of the goals scored against Bayern Munich are printed inside small black boxes - 90+1' and 90+3'. The small black boxes also feature a subtle stars pattern, also to remember that night 20 years ago.

If we look at the overall design of the kits, the Adidas Manchester has not a lot in common with the classic jersey - it features a modern, "Nike-esque" template.

The last time Man United wore a shield crest was back in 2006-07 when the side won the Premier League.
