Classy Nottingham Forest European Cup 40th Anniversary Limited-Edition Shirt Released

Update: Due to not all 1979 shirts selling out last night, Nottingham have made the European Cup 40th anniversary shirt available via their online store, also providing more and better pictures of it.

Nottingham Forest and its kit supplier Macron this evening launched a new limited-edition shirt to celebrate the 40th anniversary since the club's first European Cup win.

Priced at £70, each shirt is individually numbered from 1 to 1,979 and is presented in a commemorative box. The shirts are being sold exclusive at the official stadium store today between 6PM and 10PM.

On 30th May 1979 at Munich’s Olympic Stadium, Nottingham Forest’s Trevor Francis scored the goal that gave his team an historic 1-0 victory in the final against Swedish side Malmö FF, allowing captain John McGovern to raise to the sky the first of two consecutive European Cups.

The anniversary jersey features the classic Nottingham Forest red. It has a simple white v-collar and white sleeve cuffs - a design closely inspired by the Adidas shirt worn in 1979.

The inside neck of the Nottingham Forest 40th anniversary special-edition football shirt is personalized with a patch featuring the club badge. Additionally, 'Champions of Europe 1979' is printed on the inner neck tape. The European Cup trophy is embroidered on the back of the collar.

All players that took part in the 1979 title run have their names present in a tonal print on the right side of the shirt. Macron's new logo sits on the right chest, opposite of the Nottingham Forest logo.

“The emotions that a jersey may give to the person who wears it is what we are striving for every time we create one of our products", said Gianluca Pavanello, Macron CEO – and the Nottingham Forest jersey wants to convey to today’s fans the same emotions from 40 years ago. This is a jersey that fans, today as in those days, will wear with passion and love for the club colours.”
