"Save the Bees": Elana Toruń 19-20 'Honeycomb' Kit Released

Polish second division side Elana Toruń launched their new 2019-20 kit earlier this month. Although we don't usually cover this league, it was the inspiration behind the new kit that caught our attention. Thanks go to @futboholik1947 who shared this story with us.

Elana Toruń 19-20 Home Kit

This is the new Zina Elana Toruń home jersey for 19-20.

Elana Toruń's new 2019-20 home football shirt features a subtle honeycomb pattern on the front to raise awareness about the problem of bees dying at an alarming rate.

Other than that, it's a clean, bespoke look in the club's traditional yellow and blue, produced by local brand Zina. Unlike with certain 'bigger' brands, the pattern carries over onto the back of the shirts.

"We want to draw attention to the problem of bees dying out at an alarming rate in Poland and worldwide. Hives are emptying, and this seriously threatens agriculture. Bees are responsible for the production of three quarters of human food."

Quoting none other than Albert Einstein, who said "A bee is the basis of life on Earth, and when there are no bees, there is no food for humans. If the bees die out, mankind will only survive for four more years!", the club even provides a small guide for fans who want to help bees.

"Plant in the yard, in the garden or on the balcony such flowers that give the bees nectar and pollen. Beautiful, fragrant plants not only diversify the bee's food, thanks to which they will be healthier, but they will also beautify our surroundings."
