"Away With the Crap": Wolfsburg Fans Demand Club to Drop Blue Away Kit
As Wolfsburg are making their official 2019-20 debut in the DFB Pokal first-round against Hallescher FC from the third tier, the club's supporters have caught our attention by displaying a banner against the new away kit.
Wolfsburg's 19-20 kits from Nike have been very controversial, with opinions ranking from bad to great. It appears that the VfL faithful have a problem with the blue away kit in particular. Their banner reads "Weg mit dem blauen Scheiss" (Away with the blue crap). Two crossed out pictures of the away shirt can be seen next to the text.
It's reminiscent of similar banners that the Bayern Munich fans showcased a while back. In the case of Bayern, the supporters had an issue with the use of blue on the red home kits. The club quickly caved it, first by dropping the originally first-choice navy shorts of the 2018-19 home kit and later by adding a section in the club statutes that defines that the home kit should always be red and white. The 2019-20 home kit is the first to follow the new regulations.
