Competing in matchday 2 of Bundesliga 2, VfB Stuttgart traveled 80 kilometres to Heidenheim to play in the local 'Schwabenduell' (Swabia duel). Drawing 2-2 in emphatic fashion, VfB Stuttgart's outfield players wore the club's 2019-20 goalkeeper home jersey. Here is why (pictures via vfb.de).

Having released the club's new 2019-20 home & away shirts a few weeks ago, Jako went for Stuttgart's traditional home look: white with a red chest band as well as a fully red, rather experimental away shirt. However, Heidenheim's 2019-20 home jersey features a traditionally striped design which clashes with both options inevitably.
Therefore, The Swabians switched to the home and away options for goalkeepers. Featuring stunning looks, the club's goalkeeper shirts mirror the designs of both home and away, respectively. The first choice is mainly black with a mint chest band, while the goalkeeper away strip is fully mint.
On another note, VfB Stuttgart is set to reveal the club's new 2019-20 third shirt in two days. This will very likely prevent the club from ever using the goalkeeper shirt for their outfield players again this season.
