Olympique Lyon Signs Emirates Shirt Sponsor Deal - Teaser Does NOT Show 20-21 Kit

Update: Joss le Gone has confirmed to us that the shirt shown off in the Lyon x Emirates clip is not the 20-21 home kit. Instead, it's a shirt from the "badge of sport" collection that's sold by club.

French Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyonnais this week announced that they signed a deal with airline Emirates to become their new shirt sponsor. Together with the announcement, we might have received a first glimpse at the club's 2020-21 home kit.

Emirates Signs 5-Year Olympique Lyonnais Shirt Sponsor Deal

The new Emirates Lyon deal is valid for five years, from 2020-21 until 2024-25. The deal is worth between €20m and €25m per season, according to French newspaper Les Echos.

The Emirates “Fly Better” logo will appear on the front of the OL team’s training kits and playing jerseys for all the club’s matches, including the French Championship and European Cup until June 2025. In addition to being shirt sponsors, the agreement will provide Emirates with highly visible branding across Groupama Stadium, as well as hospitality, ticketing and other marketing rights.

Hyundai could become the club's sleeve sponsor from 2020-21 onwards, reports L’Equipe.

Emirates group chairman and chief executive, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said: “This partnership is more than just a commercial deal, but also reinforces Emirates’ investment and economic contribution to both the Lyon region, and France as a whole, a country where we have been present for nearly three decades.’’

We are delighted to be accompanied by a true world-class leader. Emirates embodies elegance and quality of service and is a premium brand with a proven track record in football and sports sponsorship. As for the stadium's naming, the agreement signed with Groupama in July 2017 will end this summer. For the moment, Emirates does not seem to have concluded a contract to become the name sponsor of the OL Park.

The video to announce the kit deal shows off a white and gold Olympique Lyonnais kit, which might be the club's 2020-2021 home kit.

The possible Lyon 2019-20 home kit is white and golden with some sleek detailing on the sleeve cuffs.
