Stunning Puma Uruguay 2016 Prototype Shirt Revealed - Here's Why It Was Disapproved

While has made a name for himself as a formidable concept artist recently, @GusCamisetas at his heart is a jersey collector.

One that has managed to get his hands on some of the rarest of shirts, including a large number of unreleased Puma prototypes.

His latest showcase is a Puma Uruguay home shirt prototype that has produced spectacular numbers on Twitter - but why was it not approved for use?

Disapproved Puma Uruguay 2016 Home Shirt

The shirt is very similar to what Puma ended up releasing as the Uruguay 2016 Copa America home shirt - with one exception.

The sleeves of the prototype feature a black-and-gold stripe pattern that is nowhere to be found on the shirt that ended up being released.

And this detail is almost certainly the reason it was never approved as black and yellow stripes are closely connected to one of Uruguay's biggest clubs, Peñarol. Puma and the federation in particular did not want to offend the supports of other Uruguayan clubs such as Nacional, Peñarol's big rivals.

What do you think about this Puma Uruguay prototype shirt? Was it the right decision to remove the sleeve detail? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
