UEFA Releases Own Referee Badge, Replacing FIFA's
Referees have quietly debuted a new patch on their shirts during the recent return of the Champions League and Europa League.
Referees Debut Brand-New 'UEFA Match Official' Badges in Champions League + Europa League
Whereas referees in the two competitions would previously wear their usual 'FIFA Referee' patch, they've now swapped it for a new one that reads 'UEFA Match Official'.
As far as we are aware, UEFA did not communicate this change, which could also be observed in the 2020-21 qualifiers that are already underway. It seems to be a purely visual change.
We also expect referees to still use the regular FIFA / federation badges when officiating in domestic leagues.
