Reebok Loses Out: AS Roma To Officially Announce New Balance Kit Deal Soon
Update: As expected, Italian website il Romanista reports that AS Roma has agreed to a three-year contract with American sportswear brand New Balance. The deal will initially run for three years and the crucial point is that AS Roma gives a better fixed amount a miss in favor of earning a "larger percentage" of sales. This also means that a deal with Reebok was totally fabricated.
AS Roma did already receive the first shirt samples
Interestingly, the capital city club did already receive the first shirt samples, and especially the third jersey "looks striking". In other news, Roma is currently negotiating an extension of their sponsorship deals with Qatar and Hyundai which will both expire this June.
Original Story: AS Roma are set to announce New Balance as the club's new shirt supplier, according to RomaPress. This confirms our earlier suspicion of New Balance being by far the most likely choice for the club.
Having also held talks with the likes of Adidas, Castore and Under Armour, Roma will receive an annual base sum of just €4 million according to a source from club owners Friedkin Group. However, the club will earn a "significantly larger percentage" of sales, which had been a major criticism of the previous Nike deal.
Roma had announced in July that the deal with Nike would end earlier than planned, after the current 2020-21 campaign.
It remains to be seen whether New Balance will already be the club's shirt supplier in the 2021-22 campaign or if we will once again see in-house kits due to the little amount of time left until then.
Are you glad to see Roma likely team up with New Balance rather than Adidas or Castore? Comment below, and check out the 21-22 Kit Overview for more.
First-Ever Clash Between 2026 World Cup Legacy Patch
The recent match between Portugal and Croatia marked the first time two players wearing the exclusive 2026 World Cup "Legacy Patch" - Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modrić faced each other. Huge thanks to @jerseystory_vn for the interesting spotted.
The Legacy Patch is a special honor reserved exclusively for players competing in 5 or more World Cups. Alongside Ronaldo and Modrić, other players sporting this patch at the 2026 World Cup include Lionel Messi, Manuel Neuer, Yuto Nagatomo, Guillermo Ochoa and Fernando Muslera. However, none of them had crossed paths in the tournament until now.
With Croatia’s elimination, only three "Legacy Patch" players remain in the tournament: Ronaldo, Messi, and Ochoa. This Portugal-Croatia clash might very well be the only time we see two Legacy Patches on the same field, unless Mexico or Argentina reach the semi-finals (with Ochoa taking the pitch), or face Portugal in the final.
