LEAKED: Montreal Impact To Become Montreal FC
Major League Soccer team released a statement on Friday that they "will undergo a major identity change" in 2021, confirming previous rumors. The new name of Impact Montreal has been already leaked - Montreal FC.
The Montreal Impact have undergone plenty of changes on the pitch in the last 12 months under head coach Thierry Henry and there will soon be a significant switch off the field as well.
Montreal Impact Announce 'Major Identity Change'
As leaked by Radio-Canada on 2 December 2020, the club will become Montreal FC (Montréal FC).
The new of the team is reminiscent of that of its ephemeral reserve club, FC Montreal, which played the 2015 and 2016 seasons in the USL before being dissolved.

The Montreal FC 2021 logo has not been leaked yet.
"Now that the 2020 season is over in all competitions, the club confirms that it will undergo a major identity change that will be unveiled in 2021," the full statement read. "We invite you to follow our platforms for more information."
The Montreal Impact name has existed since 1992 when it was formed for the American Professional Soccer League following the dissolution of the Montreal Supra franchise. The club joined MLS in 2012 - the 2021 seaosn will be the 10th years of the team in the MLS.
