Adidas Predator 20+ vs Adidas Predator Freak 21+ Boots
The next-generation Adidas Predator 2021 football boots were released this week. We compare the new Adidas Predator Freak 2021 boots with its predecessor, the Adidas Predator 20 Mutator. Thanks to UnderStats for some of the images and info.
Adidas Predator 20+ vs Predator Freak 21+ Soccer Cleats
The Adidas Predator Freak 2021 soccer shoe is not a revolution but an evolution of the Adidas Predator 2020. The next-generation Adidas Predator Freak+ football boots come with two main new 'features' - first, the rubber elements have been heavily updated, and second, the upper is now made of two pieces instead of one.
The number of thorns has been reduced from 258 to 192
Upper
The next-generation Adidas Predator Freak 21+ soccer cleats comes with the same upper in terms of tech. However, there are two main differences - the number and alignment of the "thorns" and the upper construction.
First, the thorns. The shape of the thorns is very different, and the thorns are now also placed on the collar part in the front area. The number of thorns has been reduced from 258 to 192 (.1 variant).
Second, the upper. It is now made of two pieces. Instead of a single sock-like piece, the cleat's upper comes with two pieces that are angled and separated into two distinct pieces. This increases stability and ankle support. The new high heel shape of the collar is also made for more ankle support and a better fit.
The Adidas Predator Freak are available in three different high-end versions
Sole Plate
The sole plate of both boots is identical except the visual effects.
Versions
The next-generation Adidas Predator Freak 2021 football boots are again available in three different high-end versions - laceless (Freak+), laces with collar (Freak. 1) and laces without collar (Freak. 1 Low)
Price
Pricing for the Adidas Predator has not been changed. The laceless variant retails at 280 Euro (230 GB), the other high-end versions are available for a bit more than 200 Euro.
Adidas Predator 20+ vs Adidas Predator Freak 21+ Football Boots - Overall
The next-gen Adidas Predator Freak 21+ football boot seem to be a clear improvement of the Adidas Predator 20+ - the Three Stripes did not invent a whole new product but focused on improving parts that were not perfect with the last generation.
The Adidas Predator Freak 21+ will retail at the same price as the current generation - 300 USD (300 Euro, 280 GBP).
