SC Freiburg Announces Nike Kit Deal - Teamwear Kits?

German Bundesliga club SC Freiburg is making a change of supplier - the team will be playing in Nike from the 2021-2022 season, replacing Hummel.

Freiburg already had been sponsored by Nike between 2009-2016, while Hummel made their shirts for the past five years.

No Custom Kits From Nike - Nike SC Freiburg Deal Arranged By 11teamsports

The Nike Freiburg kit deal has been not directly signed with Nike but with retailer 11teamsports. The partnership is designed for the long term.

The team sports specialist 11teamsports will take over the complete implementation and control on site in its outfitter function. Nike will be only responsible for sourcing the playing, training and leisure outfits.

Freiburg's 21-22 Nike kits are certainly based on standard teamwear

The kind of agreement (third-party) means that Freiburg's 21-22 Nike kits will be not designed by Nike for the club. Instead, 11teamsports will create the kits - they might add some custom elements to standard Nike teamwear jerseys.

The presentation of the new Nike Freiburg 21-22 jerseys is planned for the beginning of July.

Oliver Leki, SC Freiburg board member: "With NIKE and 11teamsports, we have found a very strong sporting goods brand and an absolute specialist in logistics and finishing as our equipment team. We are sure that in this constellation we are not only professionally positioned for our sporting area, but also able to offer our fans fashionable and high-quality products. We also share a common past with NIKE, having worked together successfully for many years. We are pleased to be able to build on this partnership."

Dennis Schröder, General Manager 11teamsports Group, added: "We are very pleased that, following intensive discussions with those responsible at SC Freiburg, we are able to initiate a new supplier era in Breisgau, together with NIKE. Our partnership promises a lot of creative potential and we would like to seize the opportunity to show this in numerous individual implementations for the club in the coming years. We are also pleased to be able to offer fans direct on-site service or regional service with our stores in Freiburg as well as Lahr. We are proud to be able to add SC Freiburg to our club portfolio at professional level, our House of Clubs, with this first-class Bundesliga club."

Concept: What If World Cup Winners Wore Special Badges on Club Kits?

A creative concept visualized by Bleacher Report has sparked discussion among kit enthusiasts, posing an intriguing question: what if players who have won the FIFA World Cup were allowed to wear a special champion badge on their club kits? Under current FIFA equipment regulations, only reigning national team champions and Club World Cup winners are permitted to sport the official FIFA Champions Badge, but bringing an individual achievement patch to the club stage introduces a bold twist to modern shirt details.

The mockups feature World Cup winners wearing a sleek, gold trophy silhouette on their kit sleeves stamped with the year of their international triumph. The concept envisions players like Lionel Messi donning a 2022 patch on his Inter Miami shirt, Kylian Mbappé carrying a 2018 badge in Real Madrid white, and Rodri sporting a 2026 mark. It serves as an immediate visual marker of football's ultimate honor, staying with the player regardless of their club transfers.

In reality, domestic leagues and confederations enforce strict uniform guidelines that limit sleeve real estate almost entirely to league badges, sleeve sponsors, and charitable campaign logos. While regulatory hurdles make such a badge virtually impossible in professional football, the visualization offers a clean and compelling look at how personal legacy could be integrated into club kits.

Inter Milan 26-27 Third Kit Debuted

Inter Milan officially debuted their new Nike 26-27 third kit on the pitch during a dramatic 5-3 Serie A comeback victory against Udinese at the San Siro, just hours after its official unveiling.

Taking inspiration from the Nerazzurri's iconic look from the late 1990s, notably referencing the 1997-98 and 1998-99 shirts. the new third kit is built on a stone-grey 'Iron Ore' base featuring a subtle tonal jacquard pattern. The centerpiece of the design is a prominent black horizontal chest band accented by a thin 'Blue Spark' lower stripe. Bright 'Speed Yellow' details are applied to the Swoosh, the two-starred club crest, the Betsson.sport sponsor, and retro-styled 1990s font names and numbers.
