FC Barcelona To Have Completely Sponsor-Free Kit At Start of 22-23 Season?
If you watched an FC Barcelona game in the young 2021-2022 season, you possibly noticed FC Barcelona has no sleeve sponsor. The front features the Rakuten logo but this will change soon as well.
On July 1, 2021, two of FC Barcelona's main sponsorship deals were adjusted, and that was not in favor of the club.
The deal with Rakuten will definitely end in 2022
First, the Rakuten main sponsor deal was reduced by 25m Euro. Secondly, Beko is now only the club's training sponsor and no longer in the sleeve - meaning a reduction from 19m Euro to 10m Euro.
Both the Beko and Rakuten deals are both running until June 30, 2022.
The Unicef partnership will also end in 2022
Cryptocurrency Company to Become New Barcelona Main Sponsor?
While the offers would have been tempting, two things concern FC Barcelona about cryptocurrency companies. First, the risks and variables involved with the cryptocurrency market. Second, the club sees the sector as somewhat unethical. They would only consider the move if the money was too good to turn down.
Some of the cryptocurrency companies would have shown an interest in becoming the shirt's left sleeve sponsor. From there, the idea would be to move into the main shirt sponsor's position from 2022 onwards.
Nike wants to know the main sponsor until October
Nike is said to have set an October deadline for Barcelona to have decided on their shirt sponsor for 2022-23 so that they can start making shirts for the season.
Currently, there is also the Unicef logo on the back of Barcelona's kits. This could be history soon as well.
Earlier in 2021, it was announced that UNICEF continued its collaboration with the Catalan club for one year. This new contract, effective for one season until the summer of 2022, does not include any financial compensation (Barca previously paid Unicef 1.5 million Euro).
