Former FC Barcelona player Aleix Vidal has suffered a cut wound on his tibia in the La Liga match between his club Espanyol and Real Betis, likely because of his "shin guards".

Aleix Vidal was just wearing cardboard instead of a regular shin guard. After the match, Aleix Vidal's pulled-up socks revealed that he suffered a laceration on his tibia. This was spotted by the semi-pro goalkeeper and Futbol Emotion gloves & boot expert Pedro Mayo (@PedroMayo25).
In football today, many players are wearing extremely small or no shin guards at all, including players such as Harry Maguire and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
