Flamengo Forced to Use Plain Shorts in Copa Libertadores Final
It's not just in Europe that competition rules force teams to alter their kits. As we were recently made aware, Flamengo are set to use plain black shorts rather than the eye-catching 'origami' design in the Copa Libertadores final on November 27th, 2021.
This was first shown off in the official kit graphic for the game, to be played against Brazilian rivals Palmeiras, and has now been confirmed with pictures from the media day.
Earlier this season, Flamengo did sport the 'correct' shorts, for example in the Brazilian championship match against Palmeiras on September 12th, 2021.
Right now we don't know what's exact reason for the change, but the expectation is that it has to do with Conmebol's competition regulations.
