FC Barcelona Kits to Feature UNHCR Logo Instead Of UNICEF For Next Four Years
Barcelona's kits will feature a new logo on the back from the 2022-2023 season.
Barcelona Kits to Feature Logo Of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency
For the next four seasons, the logo of UNHCR will appear on the jerseys of the men's and women's first team and the Barça Genuine Foundation team. The logo will be located on the back of the jersey, below the player's number).
UNHCR replace the logo of UNICEF, which featured on the back of Barcelona's kits since the 2011-12 season. From 2006 until 2011, UNICEF's logo featured on the front.
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is a global organization dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights, and building a better future for people forced to flee their homes because of conflict and persecution.
This is part of an agreement reached by the FC Barcelona Foundation with UNHCR and Spain for UNHCR which over four seasons, will entail a cash contribution of €400,000 per season for four projects (€100,000 per project and one per continent) plus an in-kind donation (valued by the club for €100,000 per season) of FC Barcelona sports equipment, as well as the technical expertise of the FC Barcelona Foundation’s sports specialists.
Barcelona's alliance with UNICEF began in 2006 when FC Barcelona wore the UNICEF logo on their shirt for the first time. The Catalan giants paid UNICEF €2 million per year in addition to showcasing the logo for free.
