Arsenal 22-23 Away & Third Kits Have Same Colorways as Barcelona 20-21

Following the recent leaks of the Arsenal 22-23 away and third kits, many people had a positive reaction but there were also a fair few who lamented the randomness of the color choices, with one commenter stating that they "could literally be of any team in the Premier League."

It's definitely true that traditional alternative kit colorways have been lost over recent years - Arsenal's classic away kit color is yellow, for example - highlighting a move towards choosing colors and designs more based on what sells better to maximize profit. You can only release so many yellow Arsenal away kits (Adidas have two in this cycle) until people stop buying every new one.

Nothing highlights this better than the fact that both the away and third pretty much feature the exact same colorways as the respective Barcelona kits from last season. To be clear, we don't think that Adidas copied Nike here, it's just that they are both driven by the same motivations.

Just like the Barcelona 20-21 away kit, the Arsenal 22-23 away goes for the trusted black-and-gold color combination. While many have pointed out a general oversaturation of kits in these colors, it has to be noted that Arsenal have never had a kit in those colors. Based on that, we think it's safe to assume that it will sell fantastic.

Similarly, the Arsenal 2022-23 third kit goes for a colorway that's very close to what Nike used on the Barcelona one from 2020-21. Both combine a light pink base with black logos as well as a bit of teal on the collar.

To summarize, the Arsenal 22-23 kit set, which is the first from next season with actual pictures leaked for all three kits, offers something for everyone - a traditional home kit with a classic collar, a classy black-and-gold away kit, and an unconventional third kit.
