Official: EA Sports FIFA to Be Renamed EA Sports FC
Confirming previous rumors, video publisher Electronic Arts today announced that EA Sports FIFA will be called EA Sports FC from Summer 2023. The rename would be part of a new era of EA football that begins in July 2023.
EA paid FIFA 150 million USD per year
Electronic Arts and FIFA, soccer’s global governing body, have had a deal for almost 30 years. FIFA were seeking at least double the $150 million they get annually from EA Sports, their biggest commercial partner.
EA SPORTS FIFA Change Name
In 2023, "EA SPORTS FC will become the future of football from EA SPORTS". EA SPORTS FC will include the same amount of features as the current EA SPORTS FIFA. The same modes, leagues, tournaments, clubs, and athletes.
The logo has not been unveiled yet
The video announcement features a series of variants of the EA FC logo, utilizing different club and player fonts. The official logo has not been shown off (yet).
According to Cam Weber, EVP, Group GM EA SPORTS & Racing, the "new independent platform will bring fresh opportunity – to innovate, create and evolve".
The rebrand "would be much more than just a change of symbol"
While EA say that the rebrand "would be much more than just a change of symbol", they did not reveal more details yet. "More on these plans [will be revealed] in the coming months".
In Fall 2022, EA Sports will launch the last EA Sports FIFA. It will be the "most expansive game ever with our current naming rights partner, FIFA".
More info on EA SPORTS FC will be revealed in Summer 2023.
