Next-Gen Nike Air Zoom Mercurial Boots Unveiled

Update: Nike have now officially unveiled the Air Zoom Mercurial football boots, the next generation of the Nike Mercurial that will be worn at the women's Euro next month as well as the 2022 World Cup at the end of the year.

Two colorways were shown off by Nike: first, the garish 'Disruption' launch edition that was first spotted on Cristiano Ronaldo during a top-secret photo-shoot, and second the 'Bonded' colorway that will be worn at the 2022 UEFA Women's Euro.

A month ago, CR7 was spotted being filmed for a new Nike advert wearing never-seen-before Mercurial cleats. More recently, Ireland player and boot nerd James McClean got his hands on the cleats.

This photo shows the Nike 'Disruption' Zoom Mercurial Superfly 9 Elite soccer cleats.

The Nike 'Disruption' Air Zoom Mercurial Superfly 9 soccer cleats have a bold design that puts the main feature in the center stage - they come with a big Air logo on the outstep. There are small Mercurial logos within the Air branding.

A small black Swoosh is there as well. The sole plate features a stylish iridescent effect and color gradient.

In terms of tech, the next-gen Nike Air Zoom Mercurial boots include a three-quarter-length Zoom Air bag built specifically for this first application in a football boot.

Also new is the so-called Vaporposite+ upper, which includes a data-driven support and lockdown system Nike name the Speed Cage.

“While sprinting and cutting at high speeds, it’s important that the footballer feels secure in the boot. The Vaporposite+ upper was further refined to provide a lockdown fit through a data driven designed speed cage providing optimal support of the foot in areas where footballers need it most,” says Collin Eder, Senior Director of Global Football Footwear at Nike.

The Nike Air Zoom Mercurial IX boots also debut a new sole plate with Tri-star studs. According to the brand, the new pattern should help with lateral and downhill movement.

Adidas Authentic Kit Badge Features Hidden UV Print

A detail on Adidas Authentic kit has drawn attention after being shared by @albxrnxz. The patch labeled "Authentic" reveals additional text when viewed under ultraviolet light. This applies to national team shirts, including those from the Argentina selección, and other recent Adidas kits. The feature serves as an extra verification step beyond standard tags and labels.

The observation highlights how Adidas incorporates advanced elements into its player versions and Authentic products. A heat-applied label combined with UV printing acts as a seal of authenticity, as noted on official product pages for items like the Argentina 2026 jerseys. This helps distinguish genuine merchandise from replicas.

The measure fits into Adidas' updates for the 2026 World Cup collection. Similar hidden UV prints appear in logos and badges across Authentic kits to address counterfeiting concerns. Fans can use a basic UV light to check their jerseys, adding a practical layer for collectors and buyers.
