Adidas Argentina, Germany, Spain, Colombia & Mexico Icon Jerseys Released

As well as their Icon goalkeeper jerseys, Adidas have created outfield icon jerseys based on historic kits for Mexico, Spain, Argentina, Colombia and Germany, all with a modern oversize fit.

Adidas 2022 World Cup Oversize Icon jerseys

Adidas have been releasing fan shirts under the icon line for a few seasons now, with the designs generally combining street-ready style and team heritage. That is the case once more for their latest releases, with the oversize trend firmly stamping its influence on the latest Adidas Icon jerseys for Spain, Germany,Colombia, Mexico and Argentina. Sleeves that extend below the elbow, a wider cut and a v neck collar with insert are the common traits of the shirts. Take a look at each one and the shirts that inspired them below.

2022 Mexico icon Kit

Check out Adidas' 2022 Mexico icon football shirt below.

The Adidas 2022 Mexico icon jersey is bordeaux in colour and has a cream coloured v neck, cuffs and Three Stripes. It is a modern take on the away shirt worn by Mexico in 1984, with the new Mexico badge but the now "old" Adidas logo with text underneath.

2022 Colombia Icon Kit

This is the new Adidas 2022 Colombia icon jersey.

The Adidas 2022 Colombia icon jersey has the oldest reference point of all the 2022 icon shirts, based on the orange home kits worn by Colombia in the 1970s. The shirt has an orange base colour with the colours of the Colombian flag making up the cuffs and v-neck collar, a feature that as also present on their 1970s jerseys, as seen below.

2022 Germany icon Kit

This is the new Adidas 2022 Germany icon jersey.

The Adidas 2022 Germany icon football shirt mirrors the aesthetic of Germany's 2022 World Cup Home shirt. It is black with a central white stripe, referencing the design of their 1998 away shirt. This stripe, combined with the oversize fit, makes it look quite like a bowling shirt. All trim is white apart from the gold Adidas logo and Germany badge.

2022 Spain icon Kit

This is the new Adidas 2022 Spain icon shirt.

The Adidas 2022 Spain icon shirt is based on the shirt they wore in their 2010 World Cup final victory over the Netherlands. The Adidas 2022 Spain icon football shirt is navy with the colours of the Spanish flag used for the stripes. The badge is the same as the one they wore in 2010 rather than the new version, with the date and venue of their final victory stitched underneath.

2022 Argentina icon Kit

Check out Adidas' 2022 Argentina icon football shirt below.

The design of the Adidas 2022 Argentina icon jersey is inspired by their 1990 World Cup away shirt, worn in the 1990 World Cup final against Germany. It is a similar shade of blue, with white and sky blue trim on the shoulder stripes and v neck collar.

FIFA Denies Guillermo Ochoa 2026 World Cup Legacy Patch Over Appearance Rules

Guillermo Ochoa has been denied the chance to wear FIFA's new legacy patch at the 2026 World Cup. Despite being selected for six World Cup tournaments spanning from 2006 to 2026, the Mexican goalkeeper does not meet the strict criteria set by FIFA. The governing body requires players to have made on-pitch appearances in at least five different World Cups to qualify for the special badge.

Ochoa did not play any minutes during the 2006 and 2010 tournaments, meaning he has only registered on-pitch appearances in three World Cups prior to the 2026 edition. Because of this, FIFA officially refused to award him the patch. Other veterans playing in the tournament, such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric, Manuel Neuer, and Yuto Nagatomo, have received the legacy patch for meeting the five-tournament appearance threshold.

The Mexican Football Federation is reportedly planning to push for a reconsideration of the ruling. If Ochoa features in a match during the 2026 tournament, the federation intends to appeal FIFA's decision in hopes of securing the legacy patch for the veteran goalkeeper.
